Marco Bezzecchi put Aprilia back on top during Sunday morning's MotoGP warm-up at Mandalika, leading the way ahead of Raul Fernandez in a session packed with drama. However, the morning was far from smooth for the RS-GP stable as tensions flared and championship contenders hit trouble.
Pole-sitter Fernandez faced an uphill battle after fracturing his right index finger in a Saturday Sprint clash with Bezzecchi. The Trackhouse rider was forced into adapting his riding style by braking with his middle finger during the warm-up. Despite the physical disadvantage and visible struggle with his right hand, Fernandez still managed to display competitive pace.
The rivalry boiled over once the checkered flag waved. Following his strong condemnation of Bezzecchi on Saturday evening, Fernandez engaged in another heated exchange in the practice-start area, turning around to gesture angrily at the Italian rider.

On the timing sheets, Bezzecchi secured the session-topping lap by a mere 0.043s on his final effort. Meanwhile, factory teammate and former title leader Jorge Martin suffered a high-speed accident, sliding into the gravel at Turn 11—the exact same corner where he crashed while leading the 2023 Indonesian Grand Prix.
Fortunately, the Spaniard walked away unhurt from the 150 km/h spill. Martin, who currently trails Marc Marquez by four points in the MotoGP World Championship standings, aims to bounce back. Marquez, who paced much of the 10-minute session, admitted he is not looking for a podium finish, citing Mandalika as one of the most difficult tracks for his package while focusing on damage limitation against Martin.
