Persistent braking performance issues have once again ignited fierce controversy in the Supercars championship, drawing severe criticism from Grove Racing team leadership. Subpar performance from Ferodo-supplied brake pads has dominated the paddock headlines ever since cars first hit the track on Thursday, creating immense pressure throughout the pit lane.

Multiple squads were forced to execute emergency brake changes during the opening half of the grueling 161-lap contest at Mount Panorama. This alarming situation meant that up to two complete component swaps might be required simply to complete the distance. The ongoing brake troubles follow a troubling spate of similar pad failures at Queensland Raceway back in August.

Those earlier failures previously triggered emergency measures ahead of The Bend 500 weekend. The entry shared by Kai Allen and Tim Slade was forced into an unscheduled fourth stop to replace the failing hardware, leaving the entire garage deeply frustrated.

Frustrations boiled over during the broadcast when team management openly criticized the reliability of the control components. Pointing out that batches cannot even last beyond 60 laps in a top-tier category was deemed entirely unacceptable, especially after ongoing batch issues plaguing the last two or three rounds without any permanent fix from the manufacturer.

Beyond supplier woes, team leadership did not shy away from addressing internal execution errors after their lead entry hit major trouble. The championship-contending car driven by Matt Payne and Will Davison copped two separate penalties in the opening stint, including a time penalty for contact with David Reynolds and a costly pit lane infringement.
