MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Brad Binder of Red Bull KTM stunned the field by leading the "Straight to Q2" session at the 2025 Catalan MotoGP in Barcelona on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 10:00 PM WIB. With a lap time of 1:38.141, he outpaced teammate Pedro Acosta (1:38.245), reinforcing KTM’s early dominance seen in practice.

KTM’s Unstoppable Rise

Following his record-breaking practice lap, Binder maintained his edge, heading the top 10 riders advancing directly to Q2. Acosta trailed closely in second, while Alex Marquez of BK8 Gresini Ducati secured third with a 1:38.280. Marc Marquez of Ducati Lenovo finished fourth (+0.224s), followed by Marco Bezzecchi of Aprilia Racing in fifth (1:38.403).

The lineup continued with Enea Bastianini of Red Bull KTM Tech3 (6th), Franco Morbidelli of Pertamina VR46 Ducati (7th), and Johann Zarco of Castrol Honda LCR (8th). Luca Marini (9th) and rookie Ai Ogura of Trackhouse Aprilia (10th) rounded out the top 10 with notable performances.

Binder’s lead came amid drama, particularly for top riders like Francesco Bagnaia, who missed the top 10 and must now fight through Qualifying 1—consistent with his struggles in earlier practice. Meanwhile, Ogura’s 10th place highlights the rising potential of rookies this season.

With Binder leading convincingly, KTM appears poised to dominate qualifying and the race this weekend. Yet, riders like Bagnaia and Jorge Martin of Aprilia Racing could still mount a comeback. The Barcelona showdown promises thrilling battles following Binder’s new lap record.
