Lewis Hamilton's charity organisation, Mission 44, has officially been named the official charity partner for the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The collaboration further strengthens motorsport's growing efforts to improve access to STEM education and careers within the racing industry.
Hamilton founded Mission 44 to help create a more inclusive future in education and motorsport, particularly for young people who traditionally face limited access to opportunities. As part of the partnership with Goodwood, the organisation will bring 60 young people to the Festival of Speed, allowing them to experience motorsport firsthand and gain exposure to technical and engineering career pathways.
The initiative reflects how modern motorsport is increasingly investing in talent development beyond the race track itself. In recent years, diversity and accessibility within Formula 1 and STEM industries have become major discussion points, particularly after Hamilton repeatedly highlighted the lack of representation across several areas of motorsport and engineering.

Goodwood founder and Duke of Richmond described Mission 44's work as critically important in helping remove barriers for younger generations. According to him, the Festival of Speed has always aimed to function not only as a motorsport event, but also as a platform for inspiration, innovation and technology.
"The Festival of Speed has always sought to inspire the next generation. We're proud to support Mission 44 in helping break down significant barriers that many young people still face today," the Duke of Richmond explained.
Mission 44 CEO Jason Arthur stressed that inequality of opportunity remains one of the biggest challenges in accessing STEM and motorsport careers. He argued that many talented young people never receive the initial opportunities needed to enter the industry despite possessing strong potential.
"Talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not. Every young person deserves the chance to take their first step towards a future in STEM and motorsport. That is why we fund programmes, provide scholarships and campaign for change to help young people succeed," Arthur said.
During the Festival of Speed weekend, Mission 44 will also operate a dedicated stand within the new FOS Fan Zone to showcase its educational and social programmes. Visitors will be able to attend panel discussions and live conversations focused on the future of motorsport, technology education and industry inclusivity.
From a broader perspective, the partnership reflects how modern motorsport branding increasingly integrates social impact, education and diversity into the identity of the sport itself. Formula 1 has continued expanding its influence beyond racing competition through sustainability initiatives and youth development programmes in recent seasons.
For Hamilton personally, Mission 44 remains one of the most significant projects outside his racing career. With support from a major global event such as the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the organisation now gains a much larger platform to expand its influence on the next generation seeking opportunities in STEM and professional motorsport.
