Fabio Di Giannantonio delivered a stellar performance during the Sprint Race at the Lusail Circuit, clinching second place after a decisive final-lap move on Jorge Martin. The VR46 team rider’s podium finish marks the culmination of a strong weekend, building on the pace he demonstrated throughout free practice and qualifying.
The race was marked by high tension, including a temporary suspension due to a crash involving Francesco Bagnaia and a fiery duel between Marc Marquez and Marco Bezzecchi. Amidst the chaos, Di Giannantonio maintained his composure regarding tire management. Despite initial frustration over being forced to use a medium tire while competitors opted for softs, he maximized his machine's potential until the checkered flag.
"I am very happy because in the end, we delivered an excellent performance, which is exactly our objective. We must be super happy, even though immediately after the race I was a bit angry because, unfortunately, we started with the medium tire and did not have a new soft one available," stated Di Giannantonio during his post-race interview.

The Roman rider explained that he had to adjust his racing strategy to cope with the medium compound. "I knew I had to approach the first laps differently and not manage the tires too much. In the end, we don't know if it was the right or wrong choice, but we still put on a super performance. When you see others battling with softs and you are on mediums, you think 'I wish I had one too,' but that's how it turned out," he added.
Looking ahead to the main race, Di Giannantonio highlighted the technical gap between Ducati and Aprilia. He acknowledged that the Aprilia's potential on medium tires remains a significant threat. He emphasized that he will remain focused on the variables within his control to maintain a competitive rhythm and push for another podium finish in Lusail.
