The intermediate class paddock was thrown into a flurry of activity after race direction handed down strict grid penalties to eight riders following a tense qualifying session at the Lusail International Circuit. The ruling came directly from the FIM MotoGP Stewards Panel following a series of incidents that compromised flying laps during the decisive Q2 session.

The controversy erupted when a group of riders dawdled on the ideal racing line around Turn 1, inadvertently blocking Daniel Munoz while he was on a fast lap. According to the official FIM Grand Prix regulations, this specific infraction falls under category M2-SR9 for slow riding in a group on the racing line, directly impeding competitors.

This decisive penalty drastically alters the starting grid for tomorrow's race, dealing a blow to several championship contenders. Title hopeful Manuel Gonzalez, who initially clinched a brilliant second place in qualifying, must now drop three spots. Similar grid demotions were handed to Izan Guevara, Senna Agius, and Adrian Huertas after data confirmed the impeding incident.

The weekend turned into a double setback for the Momoven Idrofoglia RW Racing Team as both of their riders received identical three-place drops. Zonta van den Goorbergh and his Japanese teammate Ayumu Sasaki will both be forced to start further down the order. Meanwhile, Belgian hopeful Barry Baltus also caught the attention of the stewards and faces an identical grid penalty.

While penalties reshuffled the midfield pack, several fortunate competitors stand to gain from the subsequent grid adjustments as teams prepare for a highly unpredictable race day under the desert lights.
