Valtteri Bottas has made a bold claim regarding Cadillac’s Formula 1 facilities compared to his former team, Mercedes, as the American outfit navigates its much-anticipated debut campaign in the pinnacle of motorsport.
The Finnish driver arrived at the squad bringing crucial years of experience from racing at the front of the grid with the Silver Arrows. Following his time inside the high-end inner workings of a championship-winning organization, industry onlookers widely expected Bottas to face a significant step down in infrastructure.
However, during a recent interview with the Financial Times, Bottas revealed that Cadillac’s infrastructure genuinely rivals that of his former team. When directly asked if the brand-new facilities surpassed those at Mercedes, the veteran driver offered a confident response, stating, “I would say so.”

That glowing assessment was echoed by his team-mate Sergio Perez. The former Red Bull driver praised the sheer scale of the operation after touring the factory, expressing sheer amazement at the state-of-the-art equipment and the strong foundations laid during the team's inaugural year.
“We were at the factory, and it’s very impressive. I’ve never seen a factory like this in my career. It’s really, really impressive,” Perez stated following his extensive talks with engineers and team personnel.
“First of all, it’s because everything is new: the equipment they have, the platforms, how nicely it is connected, all the different departments. It’s like a new home, very well organised. It was really good to see,” he added.
Despite boasting top-tier infrastructure off the track, Cadillac's on-track journey has proven challenging, as the team currently sits at the bottom of the Constructors' standings without a single point to their name. Even so, Bottas remains convinced that steady progress is being achieved behind the scenes weekend after weekend.
“We are definitely seeing an improvement somewhere every weekend. It’s not necessarily in the results yet, but it’s in how we operate as a team in different areas,” Bottas explained as the team continues its steep learning curve.
