Trans Am makes its highly anticipated return to the SRO Motorsports Australia-promoted Shannons SpeedSeries for the first time since July last year at the exact same venue. Held across October 30 to November 1, Round 6 marks the very first of back-to-back weekends for the category at the suburban Melbourne circuit, before returning for its epic season finale on November 6-8 in direct support of the Supercars Sandown 500.

A competitive total of 17 cars will officially hit the track for Round 6 of the championship battle. Attention heavily focuses on fresh talent entering the field, most notably Matt Stone Racing Super2 driver Ayrton Hodson, who is locked in for his maiden appearance in the category following a brief stint in the TA2 Tag Team Enduro earlier this year. The Kiwi talent is set to join Ash Jarvis Racing for the SpeedSeries round before shifting full attention solely to his Super2 campaign the following weekend.

Joining him in making waves is Toyota GR Cup youngster Jenson Teleskivi, who steps up to make an exciting debut aboard a Maverick Performance Mustang previously driven earlier in the season by TCM champion Adam Garwood. Fellow Toyota 86 racer Isaac Demellweek also returns to the competitive grid after securing a brilliant top-10 finish during an impressive debut outing at The Bend.

At the top of the standings, Nathan Herne currently holds a comfortable 37-point series lead over reigning champion and double Bathurst winner Todd Hazelwood. Herne enters this intense double-header weekend fresh off the back of his inaugural Bathurst 1000 campaign, where he returned to Garry Rogers Motorsport to partner James Moffat.

Moffat comfortably sits third in the championship standings, 82 points adrift of the leader, closely trailed by reigning TA2 series champion Jarrod Hughes and Blake Tracey, who sit equal fourth just two points behind Moffat. Hughes recently confirmed his impending exit from Trans Am at the conclusion of Round 6 to focus entirely on his full-time Supercars promotion with Erebus Motorsport, while Tracey takes on dual duties at Sandown.
