Tsunami RT has officially confirmed its highly anticipated entry for the 2027 Bathurst 12 Hour endurance classic. The squad is set to return to Mount Panorama fielding a Porsche 911 GT3 R, though the complete driver line-up for the upcoming campaign remains to be announced.
This comeback follows an abrupt and dramatic end to the team's maiden appearance at the iconic Australian circuit. Their debut was cut short when Am-class driver Johannes Zelger spun out of control while approaching the challenging section of Forrest's Elbow.
The stationary Porsche was subsequently struck at high speed by the race-leading Craft-Bamboo Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3. The oncoming car was driven by Ralf Aron, who unfortunately sustained a broken back from the heavy impact, while Zelger managed to escape major physical injury.

Despite the severity of the accident, both competitors have recovered well, paving the way for the team's determined return to the Intercontinental GT Challenge grid. Tsunami RT continued its endurance program throughout the year, gathering crucial data at the Spa 24 Hours, Suzuka 1000km, and Indianapolis 8 Hour.
Reflecting on the upcoming challenge, Tsunami RT team principal Valerio M. Speziali shared his thoughts on the team's resilience. "Our debut at the Bathurst 12 Hour marked the beginning of a new challenge in our endurance journey and the realisation of a dream," Speziali stated.
He further added, "Unfortunately, our first experience did not end as we had hoped following the incident. With both drivers doing well, we are looking forward to returning to Bathurst and getting back to what we love most: racing."
With meticulous preparations already underway for the 2027 season, Tsunami RT aims to put the past behind them and deliver a much stronger performance. They join a growing entry list as teams gear up for another intense battle Down Under.
