Takamoto Katsuta has openly shared his excitement regarding the strong rumours surrounding Kalle Rovanpera potentially making a full-time return to the World Rally Championship with Toyota. Rovanpera's initial aspirations in single-seater racing were derailed by health issues early in the year, leading him to sample various machinery while focusing on his personal time.
Rumours about a rally comeback intensified after Rovanpera recently tested Toyota's upcoming season challenger in Spain. Adding weight to the speculation, Toyota team principal Jari-Matti Latvala stated during Rally Sardinia that the Finnish driver appeared visibly keen to get back behind the wheel of a rally car.
As a close friend and former teammate who resides in the same area in Monaco, Katsuta admitted he would happily welcome the talented driver back into the official squad. Speaking exclusively to RallyJournal.com in Sardinia, Katsuta expressed his enthusiasm for a potential reunion.

"Of course, it would be great because he is my best friend. We’ll have fun, that’s for sure," Katsuta told the publication. When discussing the official driver roster announcement, he added, "Let’s see what happens. You’ll find out quite soon what our driver line-up will look like. One thing is certain, though: it will be interesting."
Reflecting on his own campaign, Katsuta acknowledged that maintaining momentum remains a key area for improvement after a promising start to the year was hampered by difficulties following the summer break, ultimately ending his championship aspirations prematurely.
