Zandvoort witnessed George Russell delivering a stellar performance in the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix sprint qualifying session. The Mercedes driver secured the top spot for Saturday's sprint race, leaving a tight battle in his wake.
Russell clocked 1 minute 11.567 seconds, edging out Lando Norris by just 0.041 seconds, who will start second. Charles Leclerc completed the front row after finishing third, only 0.055 seconds off pole. The intense competition on the Dutch coast track was evident from the very start.
Behind them, Oscar Piastri secured fourth place, while Russell's title rival Kimi Antonelli had to settle for fifth. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen could only manage sixth in front of his home crowd—a disappointing result for Red Bull as they continue to struggle for performance.

This qualifying session was crucial for the sprint, as valuable points are up for grabs and could shift the championship balance. With only one free practice session beforehand, teams had to work extra hard to fine-tune their cars. A short and aggressive sprint race is predicted to deliver thrilling action at Zandvoort.
Interestingly, several big names found themselves at the bottom of the timesheets. Lewis Hamilton will start seventh, while Fernando Alonso and Sergio Perez could only manage 21st and 22nd. This result is clearly a blow for Aston Martin and Cadillac, who had hoped for more.
With the grid locked in, all eyes now turn to the sprint race that will kick off a hot weekend in the Netherlands. Can Russell hold onto his advantage, or will Norris snatch his first win of the season?
