Mercedes driver George Russell has revealed that he faced heavy undisclosed challenges behind the scenes during his brilliant victory weekend at the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix. Away from the glamorous lights of the Marina Bay Street Circuit, the British driver admitted that he was dealing with significant personal hurdles that very few people knew about.

Speaking to Austrian broadcaster ORF Sport, the Mercedes star was shown photographs of himself celebrating last year's triumph alongside his partner, Carmen Montero Mundt. Looking back at the images, he reflected on how uniquely demanding that particular race weekend proved to be for his mental fortitude.
"I mean, it was a very special weekend because there was a lot going on behind the scenes that not many people know about," Russell explained when discussing the intense off-track environment he had to navigate throughout the event.

When the interviewer pressed him to give a hint regarding the nature of the struggles, he politely declined, suggesting the full story might only come to light in the distant future. He emphasized that the emotional weight of those days made the eventual triumph on race day infinitely sweeter, especially with his partner standing right beside him to share the celebration.
"Psychologically, my brain was quite busy. Then going out, putting it on pole, winning the race was a really special moment and having Carmen there as well. Why these photos and this moment were so important to me is because she was there through those moments off the track that I was dealing with, so this is the part that people don't see," he added.

That stellar victory served as a brilliant redemption arc following his heartbreaking late-race crash while running in podium contention during the 2023 edition at the exact same venue. As he continues his relentless push in the championship standings, Russell remains fully focused on maximizing performance every single weekend.
