Double Formula 1 world champion Emerson Fittipaldi has drawn a direct comparison between Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur and legendary former chief Jean Todt, while expressing strong skepticism regarding Christian Horner potential arrival in Maranello.

The paddock talk ignited several weeks ago when the former Red Bull team principal caused a stir by stating that joining the Scuderia would be a dream as he plots a future return to the pit lane. Although he later backtracked on those remarks by claiming they were taken out of context, public backing for him to successfully run the Italian outfit has remained remarkably scarce.

Speaking in an interview with The Sun, Fittipaldi argued that it would be entirely irrational for Ferrari to part ways with Vasseur, noting that the Frenchman shares a remarkably similar approach to management as Jean Todt. Fittipaldi recalled working closely alongside Vasseur back when he ran A1 Team Brazil, where Vasseur served as his technical leader during competitive race weekends.

The Brazilian icon praised Vasseur as a fantastic individual to collaborate with, highlighting his strong leadership qualities, racer mentality, and uncompromising resolve. Todt famously helmed the Prancing Horse during their dominant era with Michael Schumacher, securing consecutive drivers' and constructors' world championships between the 2000 and 2004 seasons.

Adding further perspective to the leadership dynamic, former Red Bull head of operations Richard Hopkins recently discussed the true driver behind engineering recruitment during his tenure from 2013 to 2015. Hopkins admitted that his decision to switch from McLaren was entirely motivated by the prospect of working alongside legendary aerodynamicist Adrian Newey, whose presence served as an unmatched magnet for top-tier engineering talent.

Hopkins ultimately questioned whether Horner possesses that same level of magnetic appeal and pulling power should he ever take over the reins at Maranello.
