Months ahead of schedule, Rafa Camara is preparing to soak in a highly surprising Formula 1 home debut without letting the immense pressure from local fans weigh him down at Interlagos.
The Ferrari junior was called up to step into the Haas machine following Esteban Ocon's high-profile split with the American outfit during the Mexico City Grand Prix weekend.
Facing a baptism of fire, the young Brazilian heads into the weekend with zero prior experience driving a 2026-spec Formula 1 car and limited preparation time, though his blistering pace during a private test in Portimao previously convinced team principal Ayao Komatsu to secure his services.

Reflecting on the unexpected phone call, Camara admitted his sheer astonishment. "I was very surprised," Camara said when recalling the moment he got the call. "Definitely not a place where I would expect to make my debut in Formula 1, but just very happy for the opportunity, and very grateful for the team to put trust in me this week."
With a full race seat already secured for next season, the reigning F2 frontrunner aims to block out media distractions and channel his energy entirely into mastering the VF-26.

"There will be a lot of things going on," Camara acknowledged regarding the media storm. "Whatever people are speaking about or what's happening outside, it's never been a real problem. I always try to just focus on my side, focus on things that I can control, and whatever is happening outside is not really under my control."
