Francesco Bagnaia

Francesco Bagnaia is an Italian MotoGP rider widely known by his nickname, "Pecco." As one of the most successful graduates of Valentino Rossi's VR46 Riders Academy, he is a back-to-back MotoGP World Champion (2022 and 2023). Known for his highly precise riding style, clinical late-braking ability, and calm demeanor under immense pressure, Pecco is the primary spearhead for the Ducati factory in the modern MotoGP era.

Career Journey

Early Career & Moto2 Crown (2013–2018): Making his world championship debut in the Moto3 class, Pecco went through difficult times before beginning to shine with the Mahindra team. His career skyrocketed after moving up to Moto2 with Sky Racing Team VR46, culminating in a dominant performance to secure the Moto2 World Championship title in the 2018 season.

Premier Class Debut & Adaptation at Pramac (2019–2020): Pecco stepped up to the MotoGP premier class in 2019 with the Pramac Racing satellite team (Ducati). His first two seasons were marked by a challenging adaptation process to the premier class machinery and a few injuries, though he began showing flashes of extraordinary speed that convinced Ducati of his underlying potential.

Factory Promotion & Back-to-Back World Champion (2021–2023): Promoted to the factory Ducati Lenovo Team in 2021, Pecco immediately impressed by finishing as the runner-up. A historic peak arrived in the 2022 season, where he executed the largest points deficit comeback in MotoGP history to clinch the World Championship, ending Ducati's rider title drought since 2007. In 2023, he proved his mental toughness by successfully defending his title (back-to-back) after a fierce battle that went down to the final round against Jorge Martín.

Peak Rivalry & The Super Team Era (2024–Present): In the 2024 season, Pecco was once again involved in an epic battle against Jorge Martín, ultimately finishing as the runner-up despite scoring more main race victories. Entering the 2025 and 2026 seasons, Pecco faces an incredible new dynamic with the arrival of eight-time world champion Marc Márquez as his teammate at Ducati Lenovo.
