Severe weather conditions have forced organizers to implement strict measures at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit. Heavy overnight rainfall left the Australian venue completely compromised, triggering further delays to Sunday's racing schedule. The decision came after officials re-evaluated track conditions, deeming them unsafe for any on-track motorcycle activity.

The primary obstacle halting the Grand Prix schedule remains poor visibility, which prevents the emergency Graham Webber-managed medical helicopter from taking flight. According to strict Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme safety regulations, an operational medical helicopter is a mandatory prerequisite before any session can commence. MotoGP Race Director Graham Webber had previously estimated conditions would improve by 11:00 local time, but those expectations proved overly optimistic.

By the 10:45 local time official update, organizers confirmed that visibility had not sufficiently improved, making it impossible to resume the program at the targeted hour. The severe downpour also heavily impacted support events, forcing the complete cancellation of the third Australian Superbike Championship race following water accumulation and mud washing onto the asphalt.

Glenn Allerton, acting as the riders' representative for the Australian Superbike Championship, reported dangerous standing water between Turn 3 and Turn 4. The heavy runoff brought mud directly onto the racing line, raising serious concerns regarding track safety and rider grip levels. These hazardous conditions left safety officials with no alternative but to halt all proceedings until further notice.

Uncertainty now surrounds the remainder of the race day, including the crucial MotoGP warm-up and the scheduled Grands Prix for Moto3, Moto2, and the premier class. Organizers continue to monitor weather radar closely and will release a revised timetable as soon as conditions permit safe racing operations.
