Severe weather conditions hitting the Phillip Island circuit on Sunday morning have forced race organizers to officially postpone all track activities for the Australian Grand Prix. Heavy overnight downpours left massive pools of standing water and hazardous mud deposits across the asphalt, creating treacherous racing conditions that ultimately led to the cancellation of supporting championship races.

The disruption immediately impacted the national support package, resulting in the definitive cancellation of the third Australian Superbike Championship race. According to Glenn Allerton, acting in his capacity as the riders' representative, significant amounts of water pooled directly on the racing line between Turn 3 and Turn 4, alongside persistent mud washing onto the track surface.

Beyond the drainage and grip issues on the circuit layout, the primary obstacle preventing any track action is the thick fog and heavy rain preventing the medical helicopter from flying safely. The constant availability of aeromedical evacuation remains an absolute non-negotiable safety prerequisite mandated before any premier class motorcycles are cleared to leave pit lane.

MotoGP Race Director Graham Webber promptly updated all competing teams via an official email regarding the enforced delays, promising further schedule updates as soon as track inspections are completed. Officials are targeting a weather improvement window around 11:00 local time, which would potentially allow the delayed morning warm-up session to proceed first.

Management now faces a two-fold operational challenge of waiting for visibility to clear for aviation safety while simultaneously deploying track marshals to clear debris and standing water. Revised timetable revisions for the upcoming Grand Prix events across all classes remain pending as circuit safety assessments continue.
