Pedro Acosta has successfully undergone minor surgery on his right wrist to treat carpal tunnel syndrome after retiring from the 2026 Dutch MotoGP. The update was confirmed by Red Bull KTM Factory Racing in an official statement published by MotoGP.com.
The physical issue forced the Spanish rider to retire from the Assen Grand Prix after experiencing numbness in his right hand. Acosta later admitted that the condition had been affecting him for more than a year before the decision was made to undergo surgery.
According to KTM's official statement, the procedure was successfully completed on Tuesday, 30 June. The minor operation was performed to relieve pressure on the nerve in his wrist, allowing the 21-year-old to begin his recovery ahead of the next MotoGP round.

KTM is now focused on preparing Acosta for the 2026 German Grand Prix at Sachsenring, scheduled for 10–12 July. The event will mark the final race before the championship heads into its summer break.
Acosta is expected to undergo a mandatory medical examination on Thursday, 9 July, where doctors will determine whether he is fit to compete. If cleared, the Spaniard will make his return to racing less than two weeks after undergoing surgery.
The recovery represents an important step for both Acosta and KTM following a difficult weekend at Assen. Alongside restoring the rider's physical condition, the Austrian manufacturer will be hoping to return to competitive form at one of MotoGP's most demanding circuits.
