Iker Lecuona admitted he thoroughly enjoyed the Michelin tyres during his MotoGP stand-in appearance at Silverstone last weekend. His comments come amid growing focus on the contrast between current MotoGP machinery and the 2027 prototypes, highlighted by Pol Espargaro and Augusto Fernandez.

The Ducati WorldSBK star impressed aboard the Ducati GP25 of Fermin Aldeguer. After finishing seventh at Balaton Park, he again turned heads by qualifying tenth at Silverstone. “Honestly, I don't know, but I feel really good with the front,” he said.

Lecuona, a former full-time MotoGP rider, felt the front-end feedback from the Michelin was exceptional. “Even if sometimes I lose or I lock the front a little bit, I can save it, so I know the limit well,” he added. Unfortunately, he lost the rear after tangling with Franco Morbidelli in the Sprint, then crashed from 14th in the grand prix.

His confidence on Michelin rubber could be a significant signal ahead of 2027, when the French manufacturer replaces Pirelli as WorldSBK's sole tyre supplier. “I still cannot talk [about that], but I like the Michelin a lot!” Lecuona smiled.

Meanwhile, Fermin Aldeguer, who fractured a vertebra at Assen, is expected to return at the next round in Aragon. Lecuona is currently the only rider to have beaten his team-mate, Nicolo Bulega, in this year's WorldSBK championship.
