Sebastien Ogier Gives Health Update After WRC Finland 2026 Crash

Sebastien Ogier has confirmed that he and co-driver Julien Ingrassia are in good condition following their heavy crash on SS17 Västilä at WRC Finland 2026, although both remained in hospital overnight for observation as a precaution.

Ogier’s Toyota left the road at high speed on Saturday’s penultimate special stage before crashing into the forest. The severity of the impact resulted in Ogier being airlifted to hospital, while Ingrassia was transported by ambulance for further medical examinations.

“Unfortunately we went off the road in SS17 today. Julien and I have both gone to hospital for some checks and we will stay overnight as precaution after the heavy impact. But we both feel ok which is the most important,” Ogier wrote on social media.

Ogier acknowledged the disappointment of the outcome after he had been in a strong position to win the rally, holding an advantage of around 20 seconds over Sami Pajari before the accident. Following the crash, however, his immediate focus shifted entirely towards his and Ingrassia’s condition.

“But the main thing is that we are in one piece, therefore a big thank you to the team for building such a strong car. Also I need to thank Julien for taking good care of me immediately after the impact and reassuring my family I am well,” Ogier said.

Confirmation that neither had suffered serious injuries only arrived several minutes after the accident, making it one of the most concerning moments of WRC Finland 2026. Ogier said the pair would now rest and make sure they return to full strength.

Despite being unable to continue, Ogier also sent his support to his Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT team-mates, who still occupy the top three positions heading into Sunday’s final two special stages. “Good luck to my team mates. Bring it home, guys!” he wrote.
