Pedro Acosta Admits Aprilia Superiority After Friday Practice

Pedro Acosta delivered a strong performance during Friday practice, securing fourth place and a direct ticket to Q2 at the Indonesian Grand Prix. The talented KTM rider acknowledged his status as the best of the rest behind the dominant Italian machines, showcasing competitive pace despite a significant gap to the absolute front-runners during the afternoon session at the Mandalika circuit.

Unstoppable speed was displayed by the Noale factory bikes, with Raul Fernandez topping the timesheets ahead of Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin. Speaking to media representatives in the paddock, Acosta expressed satisfaction with his performance, successfully finishing ahead of his future teammate and championship contender Marc Marquez while meeting all initial objectives for the opening day.

Refining his machine throughout the day, the Spanish prodigy noted clear improvements in grip and overall handling compared to previous rounds. Despite having multiple lap times deleted due to late yellow flags—prompting a witty remark about upcoming format changes—he maintained an upbeat attitude regarding his race pace using the medium rear tyre compound.

"Anyway, I am very happy. Today I matched my qualifying lap time from last year. We are the best of the rest, behind the Aprilias. That is something to be happy about, but we are far away. The pace that the Aprilias are showing is incredible, especially Raul. He did some really good laps at the end of pre-qualification. We are far away, but we are not in a bad position at all," Acosta stated regarding the competitive hierarchy.

Aiming to bounce back from the misfortunes experienced in Motegi, Acosta has thoroughly analyzed sector-by-sector telemetry to find missing tenths in the tight corners. With the team working intensively overnight to fine-tune the bike setup, the youngster looks fully prepared to fight at the sharp end of the grid when the lights go out.
