Formula 2, Sportrik Media - Nikola Tsolov claimed victory in the Formula 2 Feature Race at the 2026 Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park, Melbourne, following a race marked by multiple disruptions.
The Campos Racing driver controlled the race and crossed the finish line 1.6 seconds ahead of Rafael Camara from Invicta Racing. The result secured the first Feature Race victory of the 2026 Formula 2 season, held as the main support event for the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix.
Third place went to Laurens van Hoepen of Trident, while Oliver Goethe for MP Motorsport and Ritomo Miyata from Hitech completed the top five in the 33-lap contest.
The race was interrupted by two major incidents. The first occurred when Rodin Motorsport team-mates Alex Dunne and Martinius Stenshorne, who were leading at the time, collided into Turn 1 after Dunne moved across just before the braking zone. The clash triggered a Safety Car and forced both drivers into retirement.
A second disruption followed when pole sitter Dino Beganovic stopped on track due to reliability issues with his DAMS Lucas Oil car, prompting a Virtual Safety Car period.
Even before the race began, an incident occurred in the pit lane when Sebastian Montoya pulled out of the garage and made contact with Roman Bilinski, causing damage to the second DAMS Lucas Oil entry.
With victory in Melbourne, Tsolov opens the 2026 Formula 2 championship with maximum Feature Race points, providing an early boost in the title battle as the season moves to the next round.
