Nato and Gunther Confirmed to Leave Teams Ahead of Gen4 Era

Two Formula E drivers have been confirmed as leaving their current teams following Sunday's season finale in London. Norman Nato has parted ways with Nissan, while Maximilian Gunther announced his exit from DS Penske. These moves are set to ignite the silly season as the championship gears up for its Gen4 era.

Nato's departure from Nissan had been widely expected after another disappointing campaign. The Frenchman finished the season second-to-last in the drivers' standings with just 20 points, a staggering 117 behind his teammate Oliver Rowland. His lack of support in the teams' championship ultimately sealed his fate.

Nissan team principal Tommaso Volpe confirmed Nato's exit after the London finale, thanking him for his commitment over three of the past four seasons. "He took the very first podium of Nissan Formula E Team back in Season 9," Volpe said, acknowledging Nato's contributions both on and off the track.

Gunther, meanwhile, took to social media on Monday to announce his departure, describing London as his final race weekend with DS Penske. "Two seasons, many memorable moments, race wins, pole positions and challenges we've overcome together," he wrote. "The Gen4 era awaits and I'm really excited for what's ahead."

The German is reported to be heading to Envision, which recently confirmed the exits of Sebastien Buemi and Joel Eriksson, leaving two seats open. Over at Nissan, Victor Martins has emerged as the favourite to partner Rowland next season.

These confirmations mark the beginning of a busy silly season, with teams reshuffling their line-ups to gain an edge in the new Gen4 regulations. Expect more moves in the coming weeks as the grid takes shape for the next chapter of Formula E.
