The premier motorcycle world championship organization has taken a firm stance to crack down on star riders skipping scheduled promotional and fan engagement activities. According to reports cited from Motosan.es, the championship management has officially notified all teams that strict financial penalties will be enforced starting from the Indonesian Grand Prix to protect the sport's commercial image.
This decisive measure comes in response to a noticeable decline in rider attendance at public events throughout the season. The governing body firmly believes that direct interaction between the championship's top names and their supporters is vital for maintaining the global appeal of the series, prompting immediate punishments for any unexcused absences.
The newly distributed circular outlines a mandatory baseline fine of 5,000 euros for non-compliance with minimum time requirements. Particular focus has been placed on the Sunday morning 'Hero Walk', a popular 20-minute session where fans gather for photos and autographs. Under the updated rules, riders are strictly required to spend at least 10 minutes participating, with repeat offenses triggering escalating financial penalties and potential sporting sanctions in the future.

The strict oversight was ultimately triggered by a series of high-profile absences, most notably during the Japanese Grand Prix weekend. In that event, multi-time world champion Marc Marquez notably sent a double to a commercial karting event, while fellow Ducati rider Fabio Di Giannantonio also failed to show up. Strict monitoring has already commenced under intense heat conditions at the Mandalika circuit.
Factory teams and commercial partners have largely thrown their support behind the organization's crackdown. Major sponsors invest significant capital to align their brands with MotoGP stars, making rider appearances crucial for fulfilling contracted advertising returns. The championship hopes this aggressive stance will safeguard the premier class's commercial value moving forward.
