Nine-time world champion Sebastien Loeb has firmly extinguished any wild speculation regarding a potential return to the World Rally Championship. The French rallying legend made it clear that fans should not expect to see him back on the starting grid, despite spending Friday trying out a Project Rally One car in the Vosges region.
The unexpected opportunity to sample the Belgian team's machine arose purely through personal connections in the motorsport community. Lionel Hansen, who is heavily involved with the Project Rally One outfit and previously partnered with Loeb in a Porsche GT3 event, happened to be conducting test sessions quite close to the champion's home.
After completing a handful of running laps, the motorsport icon admitted the car holds genuine potential, though he could not hide his desire for a bit more punch from the powertrain. Current Rally1 regulations limit the machinery to 310 horsepower, which felt somewhat tamer compared to the older generation cars he previously drove.

"You don't need to expect to see me in Monte Carlo," Loeb explicitly told rally journalists, immediately shutting down any fantasy comebacks reminiscent of his stunning victory at the Monte Carlo season opener back in 2022.
While Loeb evaluates machinery purely out of curiosity during his time in Vosges, the Belgian development squad continues its structured preparation program. Finnish charger Teemu Suninen has also shouldered testing duties this week, focusing heavily on gravel development ahead of the team's targeted WRC asphalt campaigns slated for 2027.
