The MotoGP Grand Prix weekend at Mandalika concluded with Marc Marquez securing a sixth-place finish in the main race, resulting in the loss of the championship lead to Aprilia rider Jorge Martin. Following his stellar Sprint victory on Saturday, the factory Ducati star was forced to yield on Sunday to a charge of four Aprilia machines and KTM's standout youngster Pedro Acosta. Despite slipping down the order, he walked away from Indonesia feeling that a notoriously difficult weekend had been successfully managed.
While Marco Bezzecchi clinched victory ahead of Raul Fernandez, Martin, and Ai Ogura, Marquez salvaged crucial points as the highest-placed Ducati representative. Evaluating his performance required looking at the cumulative efforts across all sessions rather than just Sunday afternoon's 27-lap encounter.
«It is easy to explain: If you had told me on Thursday that we would only lose three points to Bezzecchi over the entire weekend and score just as many points as Martin, that would have been a dream. And that is exactly what we achieved,» the world champion summarized.

Mandalika stands as one of the most demanding venues on the calendar for his riding style, making Saturday's Sprint wināwhich temporarily elevated him to the championship summitāall the more valuable. The Grand Prix itself, however, was defined by mounting hurdles as the race progressed.
«The rear tire degraded massively, but the front tire was perfect. It's true that I gave up some ground in Turn 10, but that was part of my strategy. I didn't want to take any risks because there were still twelve laps to go,» he clarified regarding his conservative approach.
Recognizing that he could not fend off multiple charging pursuers over full race distance, he wisely accepted position losses rather than exhausting his tires in futile defensive battles. The careful management ultimately preserved valuable championship points on a historically tough layout.
