The MotoGP 2026 title fight is getting more intense. After a surprising Aragon round, riders now head to Misano for the Red Bull Grand Prix of San Marino and Rimini Riviera. Only 24 points separate the top three in the championship, promising a dramatic weekend at the Adriatic circuit.
Marc Marquez arrives in Misano as the hunter. After scoring a perfect 37 points at Aragon, a circuit considered his 'territory', he is now just 19 points behind championship leader Jorge Martin. With six MotoGP wins at Misano, including the last two years, Marquez has a real chance to close the gap or even take the championship lead.
Jorge Martin took a different approach in Aragon. Aware he lacked the pace to fight at the front, he settled for realistic fifth-place finishes in both races. This calm and consistent attitude reminds many of his 2024 title-winning campaign. However, consistency alone may not be enough if Marquez continues his aggressive form.
Marco Bezzecchi, the home hero from Aprilia Racing, is also within striking distance. A double podium in Aragon signaled his recovery from injury. With full support from the Misano crowd, Bezzecchi could be a key player in the title battle. His fierce duel with Marquez at last year's San Marino GP is still fresh in memory.
Behind the leading trio, names like Fabio Di Giannantonio and Ai Ogura are losing ground. Meanwhile, Pedro Acosta proved himself a serious threat after an epic battle with his future teammate in Aragon. Raul Fernandez, who shone at Silverstone, had a nightmare weekend in Aragon due to technical issues.
A different fate befell Alex Marquez and Fermin Aldeguer. Both were solid and ready to fight at the front. Francesco Bagnaia, on the other hand, suffered another DNF, leaving him far behind in the title hunt. The pressure will be immense on Pecco at his home race in Misano.
Good news comes from Johann Zarco's impressive comeback, and rookie Diogo Moreira continues to show remarkable progress with Honda. Yamaha is also rediscovering their form, with Jack Miller consistently in the top 12. All these elements are set to heat up the competition at Misano.
