Mohamed Ben Sulayem Confirms Qatar and Abu Dhabi GP 2026 Going Ahead

Geopolitical uncertainty in the Middle East region previously sparked intense speculation regarding the final rounds of the Formula 1 season, but Mohamed Ben Sulayem has firmly guaranteed the safety of the entire paddock for the upcoming events.

The security situation in the area has been under intense scrutiny following various tensions and armed conflicts in recent times, which previously even impacted the global racing calendar.

Nevertheless, the President of the international motorsport governing body stressed that the decision to proceed with the races at the Lusail Circuit and the Yas Marina Circuit is based on thorough safety assessments and the reality on the ground.

In statements to the media, the number one official of the world governing body emphasized that he would never take risks that could jeopardize the safety of staff, drivers, or officials on duty.

"Qui usiamo il buon senso: non porteremmo mai il nostro personale, i piloti o i funzionari in un luogo che riteniamo rischioso; assolutamente no," stated Mohamed Ben Sulayem while providing official confirmation regarding the status of the season finale.

Furthermore, he offered a deeply personal argument to convince the public that conditions in the United Arab Emirates are under safe control and far removed from how international media often portray them.

"I miei figli si trovano li negli Emirati Arabi Uniti. Pensate davvero che li lascerei li, mentre io sono qui con voi, se la situazione fosse pericolosa? Bisogna essere ragionevoli," he added, confirming that both closing rounds will proceed according to schedule.
