Lando Norris has conceded he needs to make better decisions following his sprint race clash with team-mate Oscar Piastri at the Singapore Grand Prix. The team leadership promptly took decisive action by holding internal evaluations at the Woking factory to ensure a similar incident is never repeated.
The collision occurred when an aggressive overtaking lunge backfired for both drivers, costing the squad vital championship points. Team principal Andrea Stella emphasized the importance of upholding racing principles, though follow-up discussions last week successfully closed the chapter on the matter.
"I take responsibility for my mistakes, and I learn from them," Norris was quoted in the team's United States Grand Prix preview. "This team is my motivation every weekend, and my aim is to repay the hard work everyone puts in by improving, making better decisions, and representing the team in the best possible way."

On the technical front, McLaren faced a challenging triple-header amid significant performance upgrades introduced by rival teams like Red Bull and Ferrari's strong form on high-downforce circuits. Although the MCL40 upgrades functioned as intended, intense competition forced the engineering department to focus heavily on braking stability.

Heading into the race weekend at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, chief designer Rob Marshall revealed that the Woking outfit is introducing a modest selection of upgrades focused on the front end and minor floor tweaks to boost driver confidence.
