A historic double world championship success is well within reach for Mercedes as the Formula 1 paddock arrives at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. Just one week after Kimi Antonelli secured the drivers' crown at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, the Silver Arrows have the opportunity to wrap up the constructors' championship this weekend.
With four rounds remaining in the 2026 campaign, Mercedes has amassed a commanding 630 points. Antonelli has claimed nine victories so far, while teammate George Russell has added three wins to showcase the squad's dominant pace. Despite fierce competition from rivals throughout the year, the team stands on the brink of another historic milestone.
Mercedes will be crowned constructors' champions for a ninth time if they leave Interlagos holding a lead greater than 128 points over Ferrari. Holding a 126-point advantage heading into the weekend, the Brackley-based outfit merely needs to outscore their Italian rivals by three points on Sunday.

Any combination of a 1-2, 1-3, or 1-4 finish in Brazil will guarantee the title for Mercedes. While Ferrari remains the only mathematical threat, halting the championship celebration will prove an uphill battle for the Maranello squad.
Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff emphasized the collective effort behind their strong campaign. "We came into this season wanting to fight for both championships and there is still a job left to finish," Wolff stated, noting that the constructors' title reflects the hard work of the entire operation both at the track and back at the factories in Brackley and Brixworth.
