Max Verstappen drove his Team Verstappen Mercedes to the fourth-fastest time at the end of FP2 ahead of qualifying for the GT World Challenge Europe finale at Portimao.
The four-time Formula 1 world champion had finished the morning session in 20th place, though he was just 0.4 seconds off the ultimate pace. Verstappen also faced scrutiny from the stewards following an early clash in FP1, which resulted in a reprimand and a penalty point.
During FP1, only Verstappen and Ben Barnicoat shared driving duties in the No.3 Mercedes, leaving Chris Lulham on the sidelines. However, it was Lulham who ultimately delivered the team's best lap of the day during the closing stages of the 90-minute session.

Lulham posted a lap time of 1m43.229s to break into the top four, maintaining the position until the chequered flag dropped. Barnicoat took over the car for the final minutes but did not improve upon Lulham's benchmark.
At the top of the timesheets, the No.17 GetSpeed Mercedes led a tightly contested session with a 1m42.988s, followed by the Tresor Attempto Racing Audi and Comtoyou Aston Martin. Further down the order, the No.46 WRT BMW entry featuring Valentino Rossi finished down in 49th position.
