Reigning champion Marc Marquez bounced back from a rare qualifying defeat to dominate the Aragon MotoGP sprint. The Ducati rider swept past polesitter Marco Bezzecchi at Turn 1 and led every lap, taking his first Saturday win since Germany.
The victory trimmed his title deficit to Jorge Martin to 33 points and lifted him to third in the standings. Alex Marquez finished second on the Gresini Ducati, completing a 1-2 for the Italian manufacturer, while Bezzecchi settled for third after fading late.
Martin had a tough afternoon, finishing fifth and seeing his championship lead shrink to 29 points over Aprilia teammate Bezzecchi. The sweltering conditions triggered a tyre gamble: Bezzecchi and Martin opted for the soft rear, while the Marquez brothers chose the medium, a decision that proved decisive.
Pedro Acosta passed Martin on lap five after the Aprilia rider ran wide, and Martin could not respond, finishing 3.5 seconds adrift of the KTM. Fermin Aldeguer impressed with sixth in his first race back from injury, while Johann Zarco fought to ninth on his return.
Pecco Bagnaia's struggles continued with an 11th-place finish, and Fabio Di Giannantonio's title hopes took a hit after a crash, leaving him 46 points behind Martin.
