The battle for the MotoGP world championship title will head to Portugal after Marc Marquez was denied his eighth crown at the Lusail International Circuit. In a commanding performance, Marco Bezzecchi dominated the proceedings, crossing the finish line over three seconds clear of the championship leader.

Marquez entered the weekend needing a victory combined with a non-scoring result from Jorge Martin to seal the championship early. However, Martin fought back to secure seventh place, ensuring the title fight remains mathematically open for the final two rounds of the season. Bezzecchi executed a perfect start, seizing the holeshot from pole position and never looking back throughout the 22-lap contest.

The race was marked by early chaos as Raul Fernandez challenged the leaders, forcing Marquez to fight his way through the pack. Tire pressure issues plagued several riders, including Pedro Acosta, who eventually faded after a strong start. Marquez managed to recover to second place with just three laps remaining, but he had no answer for the pace shown by the Italian winner.

This victory keeps Bezzecchi in the hunt, trailing Marquez by 74 points, enough to force the championship fight into the penultimate round. Further down the order, Enea Bastianini moved up to fifth, benefiting from teammate orders as Acosta struggled with technical constraints. Fabio Di Giannantonio finished eighth, while the top ten was rounded out by Johann Zarco and Iker Lecuona.
