The premier class grid witnessed a dramatic shift as Marco Bezzecchi unleashed an incredible performance to claim pole position. The Italian rider obliterated the existing lap benchmark at the Lusail International Circuit, displaying supreme pace to edge out his closest rivals in a tense qualifying showdown.
Early exchanges saw Marc Marquez set the initial benchmark before Bezzecchi responded with a blistering flying lap that shattered the previous record by nearly four tenths of a second. This sensational effort placed the Ducati rider in prime territory to dictate terms as the championship battle reaches a critical juncture.
Despite intermittent sector improvements from various contenders during their final runs, nobody could match the supreme rhythm demonstrated around the sweeping layout. Bezzecchi ultimately sealed his first pole since Misano in emphatic fashion, stopping the clock with a peerless lap time of 1:50.028s.
Meanwhile, Marquez secured second on the grid as he looks to maximize his points advantage over the opposition. Fabio Di Giannantonio rounded out the front row in third place following a stellar late surge, pushing the chasing pack down the order.
Further down the field, Francesco Bagnaia managed fifth, while Jorge Martin battled bravely through severe pain barriers to qualify eleventh. Read our in-depth analysis and catch all the latest paddock updates on Sportrik.
