Marco Bezzecchi insists there is no change in pressure despite his record-breaking MotoGP 2026 winning streak coming to an end at the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez. The Aprilia Racing rider remains at the top of the standings, even as his early-season dominance was halted.

Bezzecchi started the season with remarkable technical consistency, winning the opening three rounds and extending his victory run to five consecutive races dating back to the previous season. During this period, he also set a new benchmark of 121 consecutive laps led, surpassing the previous record held by Jorge Lorenzo from 2015, underlining Aprilia’s efficiency in race conditions.

That run came to an end in Jerez, where Alex Marquez of Gresini Racing secured victory, preventing Bezzecchi from leading a single lap in the main race. Despite finishing second, the result marked the first clear competitive challenge he has faced this season, particularly under high-grip conditions and varying tyre degradation profiles.

"No, the pressure is the same. When you are on the grid on Sunday, the pressure is always high, even if you start from the back. The feeling is always the same from mini bike racing to MotoGP."

From a technical perspective, Bezzecchi endured a mixed weekend, including his third sprint race crash in the opening four rounds. This suggests that while outright pace and race management remain strong, consistency in shorter race formats is an area Aprilia continues to refine.

Nevertheless, Bezzecchi extended his championship lead to 11 points over team-mate Jorge Martin, highlighting the strength of his Sunday race performances. Strategic execution over full race distance remains a key advantage in maintaining his position at the top.

On the development front, Aprilia has also initiated its transition towards the 2027 regulations by debuting its 850cc prototype, tested by Lorenzo Savadori in Jerez. This move reflects the manufacturer’s dual focus on sustaining its current title challenge while preparing for the next technical era, with upcoming rounds expected to further test the competitive balance in the 2026 MotoGP season.
