Marc Marquez has added yet another prestigious accolade to his legendary racing career after being officially honored with the 2025 National Sports Award. This high-profile recognition from the Spanish Sports Council celebrates the resilience and remarkable achievements of the world champion.
The journey to the top for the star rider of the Ducati Lenovo factory squad was far from smooth. He had to overcome four major surgeries on his right humerus, persistent shoulder issues, and bouts of diplopia that threatened to derail his career in the premier class.
His triumphant return to the pinnacle of MotoGP showcases a true phoenix-like story. Ever since his career-altering crash in Jerez back in 2020, the Catalan rider spent years away from championship glory until finding the right technical package with the Bologna-based manufacturer.
Sharing the honor with artistic swimming star Iris Tio—who claimed four medals at the world championships—the Spanish icon was recognized as one of the best athletes of 2025 following a grueling path back to the top of the sport.
The intense battle on the track continues to captivate fans worldwide as he fights for another crown, currently locked in a razor-thin championship duel against title rival Jorge Martin with everything still to play for.
