Red Bull Racing introduced a substantial upgrade package for the RB22 at the 2026 Miami Grand Prix, with a clear focus on improving the car’s predictability. The update reflects a broader shift in aerodynamic philosophy following the opening rounds of the season.
The changes can be broadly divided into three main areas: the front, mid-section, and rear of the car. Collectively, they aim to optimise airflow management and deliver a more consistent distribution of downforce across different phases of cornering.
At the front, the car features a completely revised front wing, with redesigned endplates incorporating horizontal elements that direct turbulence downward in the lateral area ahead of the front wheels. This plays a crucial role in conditioning airflow toward the central section of the car.

From a technical standpoint, managing airflow in this region directly influences floor and diffuser efficiency. By reducing turbulence, Red Bull aims to enhance aerodynamic consistency throughout a lap.
Significant work has also been carried out on the sidepods, which now feature a rearward ramp extending toward the rear wheels. This indicates a fundamental rethink of airflow management in the mid-section, targeting improved stability during load transitions in corners.
At the rear, attention is drawn to the combination of the rear wing and exhaust configuration. The so-called “Macarena” wing creates a large slot when running in straight-line mode, while the revised exhaust path is designed to generate a low-pressure area beneath the main wing element.
This concept allows the car to maintain downforce even when drag is reduced on straights, balancing top speed with cornering stability.
Overall, the upgrade signals a shift toward a different aerodynamic map, redefining how and where downforce is generated and how it is transferred during cornering. Its effectiveness will be key to Red Bull’s competitiveness in the next phase of the 2026 season.
