Liam Lawson returns to the Dutch Grand Prix as the top scorer outside the top four teams. Three years after his surprise F1 debut, Liam Lawson has finally found a stable rhythm in F1.
The New Zealander's career path has not been smooth. Since replacing the injured Daniel Ricciardo in 2023, he has faced ups and downs. Now, sitting ninth in the standings, just 25 points behind Isack Hadjar at Red Bull, Lawson shows he can survive the fierce competition among Red Bull teams.
Many had written him off after a difficult time at Red Bull and doubted him at Racing Bulls. However, Lawson is a resilient driver. He listens, works hard, and focuses on details that make him faster. As a result, his performance has improved dramatically over the past year.

His team boss, Alan Permane, acknowledged this progress. "He's come on immensely. I can see he's happier, and in his driving he's more focused. He's quicker," he told The Race. Permane also noted that Lawson is now more open to advice, building trust between driver and team.
Lawson himself does not see the change as dramatic. "It's easy to feel like, 'oh, I made a significant step since last year'. But not much has changed, honestly," he said. However, in F1, small details matter a lot.
With teammate Arvid Lindblad impressing and Nikola Tsolov leading F2, Lawson cannot rest on his laurels. But by sitting ninth, he has proven his worth. Now, all eyes are on him to stay consistent for the rest of the season.
