Alex Albon has secured his future with Williams for the 2027 Formula 1 season, signing a one-year extension that keeps him at the Grove-based team for a sixth consecutive year.
The announcement comes amid speculation over the futures of Albon and teammate Carlos Sainz, both out of contract at the end of this year. Williams currently languishes in ninth place in the constructors' standings, a far cry from last year's fifth-place finish.
Albon, who joined Williams in 2022, expressed his continued belief in the team's long-term project. "Since joining this team in 2022, the transformation has been difficult to put into words," he said. "One tough year doesn't tell the full picture, and it only gives me more motivation to keep building and pushing together with the factory and our fans."

Team principal James Vowles welcomed Albon's decision. "Alex has been a leader of this transformation project since day one and we have plenty of unfinished business," Vowles said. "He is one of the best drivers on the grid and knows better than anyone the enormous improvements we have made."
The new deal also cements Albon's status as Williams' longest-serving driver, having surpassed Nigel Mansell's record earlier this year and reaching 100 races for the team at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Sainz's future remains uncertain.
With this commitment, Williams hopes to bounce back and compete at the front. Albon stressed his focus is on helping the team return to where it belongs. "Our story is not over yet," he asserted.
