The opening practice session at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace Interlagos delivered intense action as the premier class grid kicked off the weekend. Lando Norris set the pace during the first free practice session of the Formula 1 Sao Paulo Grand Prix, posting a benchmark lap time of 1:11.717.
The McLaren charger had to squeeze every ounce of performance from his machinery to narrowly edge out newly-crowned world champion Kimi Antonelli. The young Italian sensation finished just 0.082 seconds adrift as the chequered flag dropped at the end of a busy morning of running in Interlagos.
Mandatory rookie outings shaped much of the session's program, with six of the 11 teams utilizing the hour to hand track time to young prospects. Drivers including Freddie Slater, Luke Browning, Gabriel Mini, Leonardo Fornaroli, Colton Herta, and Dino Beganovic all gained crucial mileage in contemporary F1 machinery.

Gabriel Mini stood out among the debutants by storming to the seventh-fastest overall time. Meanwhile, all eyes were on the Haas garage as Rafael Camara stepped in for his maiden Grand Prix weekend appearance, taking over the cockpit from Esteban Ocon for valuable developmental experience.
The competitive order shifted slightly as proceedings rolled into the second practice session later in the day, with Kimi Antonelli bouncing back to top the timesheets ahead of Norris and Max Verstappen, setting the stage for a dramatic remainder of the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend.
