Intensive testing activities are currently being carried out by the Hyundai squad in Central Finland, sparking intense speculation throughout the World Rally Championship paddock. The presence of experienced British rally star Kris Meeke behind the wheel of a Rally2 specification car has caught significant attention during gravel development runs in Northern Europe.
Although the Korean manufacturer has publicly stated that it does not intend to homologate a WRC Kit upgrade package for its Rally2 car—which would otherwise allow the vehicle to be converted to meet top-class regulations for the 2027 season—rumors and speculation continue to swirl regarding potential behind-the-scenes development work.
According to information gathered from RallyJournal, this rigorous testing program is scheduled to continue in Central Finland for another couple of days. The secretive development sessions officially kicked off in Kuhmoinen on Monday before the team relocated its entire testing crew and machinery to Jamsa starting on Tuesday.

The 47-year-old driver is no stranger to high-level test duties, boasting extensive background knowledge of Hyundai machinery from his dominant campaign in the Portuguese Rally Championship, where he celebrated claiming the prestigious series title two years ago.
Following that success, Meeke switched allegiances to Toyota last season and finished as the championship runner-up. Earlier this autumn, the veteran driver made a strong European Rally Championship appearance, claiming victory at the Welsh round alongside co-driver Stuart Loudon ahead of their upcoming season finale appearance in Portugal this week.
