Chris Lulham has formally issued an apology following a costly on-track collision that ignited severe online backlash during the GT World Challenge Europe season finale at Portimao.
The dramatic event unfolded during the three-hour Endurance Cup race, where four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen made his much-anticipated GTWCE debut alongside Ben Barnicoat in the No.3 Mercedes AMG run by 2 Season Motorsport.
Following a safety car restart, Lulham was running strongly inside the top eight before making contact with the No.48 Mercedes at Turn 7, an incident that immediately triggered a drive-through penalty for the team.

The costly sanction dropped the car outside of the top 20 before the final stint, leaving the Red Bull star with a mountain to climb as he fought back to cross the chequered flag in ninth position overall.
The aftermath of the race saw Lulham targeted by unwarranted online abuse and personal attacks, prompting Verstappen to publicly condemn the harassment and defend his teammate's strong performance.
