A poignant atmosphere has descended upon Sao Paulo ahead of this weekend's Brazilian Grand Prix. Kimi Antonelli, who recently cemented his place in history as the youngest-ever Formula 1 world champion following a podium finish in Mexico City, has returned to pay his respects at the resting place of his idol, Ayrton Senna.

For the 20-year-old Italian, this pilgrimage has become a sacred tradition. Growing up in Bologna, just a short distance from Imola—the site of Senna's tragic 1994 accident—Antonelli’s admiration for the Brazilian icon runs deep. This year, however, the visit carries a different weight; he arrives not as a hopeful prospect, but as the reigning king of the sport.

To honor the legend, Antonelli has prepared a special helmet design for the Brazilian round. "I will have a special happening for Brazil, for Ayrton," Antonelli shared. "Also because it's going to be 35 years ever since he won for the first time in Brazil. I think it's one of my best helmets that I've made. So hopefully you guys, everyone, will like it. It's going to be a very special weekend."

Despite the prestige of carrying the number 1 on his car for his title defense, Antonelli has confirmed he will retain his signature number 12. The choice is a direct tribute to the number Senna famously wore when he secured his first world title with McLaren in 1988.

"I think I'll stay with number 12," he explained. "I'll stay with number 12 because, obviously, it's a very special number for me. But also it's a way for me to stay grounded, to stay humble. And to be honest, I'm very superstitious, and number 1 has never been a good number for me. Whenever I put it, it went extremely badly. So one more reason to stay with number 12."
