The opening morning of the Australian Grand Prix at the legendary Phillip Island circuit immediately delivered high intensity as Jorge Martin took his first official laps aboard an Aprilia machine. Showing absolutely no signs of adaptation struggles, the championship leader immediately set a strong pace in the opening practice session, finishing ahead of several notable competitors on the timesheets.

Heading into the afternoon's uninterrupted 60-minute session, the factory rider maintained a completely trouble-free run unlike some of his garage neighbors. Utilizing an early soft tire strategy, he briefly dropped down the order before settling firmly into fifth position by the end of the long session, marking a highly productive start to the weekend aboard the RS-GP prototype.

Reflecting on his performance after the opening day of the Australian GP, the Spaniard expressed deep satisfaction with his initial progress and personal milestone at the iconic seaside venue. He noted that the day had gone wonderfully both for the manufacturer and his own side of the garage, highlighting a brand new personal lap record around the layout.

'It was a good day—things went great for Aprilia, and it was good for me too. On one hand, I was faster than ever before at Phillip Island, setting a new personal record with a great feeling right from the start. We have also understood the specific areas where I can improve and how to work on them,' he explained regarding his opening day findings.

Elaborating on the technical aspects of the circuit, he emphasized how much riding style dictates lap time at this venue. 'Riding style makes a huge difference here, and I still need to adapt better. I tend to enter corners too aggressively and too fast, getting on the throttle too late, which costs me time on the exit. We will keep working on that because we are already very close to our maximum potential.'

When looking at the numerical data from Friday, the championship leader ended the day in fifth place, sitting just 0,255 seconds off the benchmark time set by his teammate and a mere 0,129 seconds behind Ai Ogura. This tight margin sets the stage for an explosive remainder of the weekend at Phillip Island.
