Spanish rider Jorge Martin has suffered yet another major setback after sustaining a fresh injury this Saturday, marking his fifth major accident since joining the Aprilia squad. This latest misfortune further compounds a dismal run of physical ailments that has severely limited his track time with his new manufacturer.
Reflecting on his premier-class trajectory, the Madrid-born rider made his debut with Pramac Racing in 2021 and famously overcame a career-threatening crash in Portugal during his rookie year. From the Barcelona round in June 2021 onward, he displayed remarkable durability by completing 72 consecutive Grands Prix aboard Ducati machinery, culminating in his dominant 2024 world championship campaign.
However, the momentum shifted dramatically after he committed to the Noale-based factory for the 2025 and 2026 seasons following his disappointment over being overlooked for the factory Ducati seat. Since making the switch, Martin has only been able to complete roughly 60 percent of the scheduled Grands Prix, managing just seven appearances last year and 17 this season.

The downward spiral began immediately during his first official outing on the RS-GP at the Sepang pre-season test on February 5, 2025, where a heavy crash left him with a fractured fifth metacarpal in his right hand and a triple fracture in his left foot. Compounding his misery, a subsequent training crash on a supermoto bike in Lleida resulted in displaced fractures to his left distal radius, scaphoid, and triquetrum, forcing him to miss the opening rounds in Thailand and Argentina.
With his latest radius fracture in his right arm ruling him out of Sunday's action at Phillip Island, medical staff performed a CT scan on Saturday night in Melbourne to assess the damage. The results will dictate whether the reigning world champion travels back to Spain for immediate surgery or attempts a rapid recovery to make a potential return at Sepang.
