Jorge Martin Recovery Plan Revealed Ahead of 2026 MotoGP Malaysian GP

Jorge Martin faces a monumental challenge in his world championship campaign after suffering a radius fracture in his right hand during a heavy crash in the Australian Grand Prix sprint race at Phillip Island.

The incident occurred while the reigning world title contender was locked in an intense, high-speed battle with arch-rival Marc Marquez with just eight and a half laps remaining on the clock.

Despite initial fears from circuit medical staff regarding a potential secondary fracture in the ulna bone, a computerized tomography scan conducted in Melbourne later that evening brought a huge sigh of relief.

The detailed medical examination confirmed that the radius injury was non-displaced, allowing the factory Aprilia rider to avoid a flight back to Spain for immediate surgical intervention.

To ensure he is fit enough to throw a leg over his prototype machine on Friday at Sepang, physiotherapist Aitor Tomas has structured a strict, two-phase recovery roadmap.

"Vamos a dividir el proceso en dos fases," Aitor Tomas explained to reporters regarding the intensive rehabilitation program.

"La primera se centrara en reducir la inflamacion y todo lo que conlleva la lesion osea. Intentaremos recuperar movilidad, fuerza y funcionalidad. Y eso lo conseguiremos con crioterapia (hielo) dan masaje," the physiotherapist detailed about the initial phase.

The second stage of the medical protocol will concentrate heavily on accelerating natural bone regeneration to ensure structural integrity before track action begins.

"Intentaremos regenerar el hueso en la medida de lo posible, para que se vaya fortaleciendo progresivamente. Lo haremos con magnetoterapia," he concluded.
