The battle for supremacy in the premier class has taken an intriguing turn as Marco Bezzecchi establishes himself as the ultimate master of single-lap pace. The Italian rider now leads the official standings for holding the most all-time lap record benchmarks across the 2026 calendar, pushing legendary names down the pecking order.
Operating at an astonishing level of precision, the Aprilia standout has cemented his status by claiming the fastest historical time across six distinct venues. His remarkable speed is highlighted by phenomenal laps in Thailand with a 1:28.526, Goiania at 1:17.408, Mugello stopping the clock at 1:43.921, Aragon at 1:44.962, Misano with 1:29.982, and Valencia clocking 1:28.809. Five of these benchmark times were shattered during the ongoing campaign.
Meanwhile, nine-time world champion Marc Marquez finds himself in second place with five remaining records to his name. The Spanish icon holds the fastest laps at Le Mans with 1:29.288, Sachsenring at 1:19.041, Balaton recording 1:36.518, Losail at 1:50.499, and Portimao with 1:37.226. Notably, his Portimao benchmark dates back to 2023, standing proudly as one of the longest-surviving lap records on the entire racing calendar.

Rounding out the upper echelon, Jorge Martin claims three impressive records at Silverstone with 1:56.160, Austria at 1:27.748, and Japan recording 1:42.371, all achieved this season. Further down the list, competitors such as Fabio Quartararo and Francesco Bagnaia continue to defend their territories with two records apiece, reflecting the deeply competitive nature of the modern grid.
From a manufacturer perspective, Aprilia has engineered a remarkable shift in power by securing 11 out of the 22 available circuit records courtesy of Bezzecchi, Martin, Ogura, and Fernandez. Ducati closely follows with nine records, while Yamaha captures two through Quartararo, proving that lap times continue to tumble year after year.
