The second Supersport World Championship race of 2026 at the Circuito de Jerez roared to life at 14:00 under threatening dark clouds, with a cooler track temperature of 23 degrees Celsius setting a tense atmosphere on Sunday. Even though Albert Arenas had already secured the world title in Estoril, the grid was packed with hungry riders eager to showcase their potential for upcoming contract negotiations.
The starting grid for the second heat was formulated using the fastest lap times from Race 1 for the top nine positions, while grid spots from tenth onward relied on Superpole results. This placed Jorge Navarro alongside Can Oncu and the newly crowned champion on the front row, with experienced Swiss contender Dominique Aegerter lining up in seventh place.
As the lights went out, Albert Arenas lunged into the opening corner ahead of Can Oncu and Jorge Navarro, while Dominique Aegerter fought to hold his ground in seventh. Drama struck on the second lap when Tom Booth-Amos misjudged his braking zone into turn six and heavily collided with the rear of the leading machine, forcing race control to deploy a stretcher for Albert Arenas.

The subsequent chaos shuffled the leading order completely, promoting Jeremy Alcoba to the front by lap three ahead of Valentin Debise. As the race reached its halfway mark, Matteo Ferrari briefly took charge before Dominique Aegerter spectacularly snatched the lead at the start of lap twelve with blistering pace.
The momentum continued to swing toward the green squad as red flags were prematurely waved on lap thirteen following a crash by Jorge Navarro. With two-thirds of the race distance completed, the stoppage cemented a phenomenal result and a brilliant double podium for the team.
