Fermin Aldeguer is forced to sit out the upcoming Malaysian Grand Prix weekend as he continues his recovery from a hand injury sustained earlier this month. The young Spanish rider is still not fit enough to return to action following a high-speed crash during the opening stages of the Indonesian Grand Prix at the Mandalika International Street Circuit.
The heavy tumble resulted in a fracture at the base of the first metacarpal bone in his right hand, requiring immediate medical intervention. On October 14, he underwent successful surgery performed by renowned specialist Dr. Xavier Mir in Barcelona to ensure proper bone healing and structural recovery for his racing career.
This setback means the talented youngster must miss another crucial round after having already sat down the Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island. Gresini Racing has officially confirmed that the upcoming trip to Sepang International Circuit comes just too early for the Spaniard's much-anticipated return to the premier class grid.

Stepping in once again to shoulder the riding duties is Iker Lecuona, who finished runner-up in the FIM Superbike World Championship this season. Having already stepped in as a substitute rider at Balaton Park and Silverstone earlier in the year, he returned to the MotoGP paddock in Australia and will now pilot the Ducati Desmosedici in Malaysia.
This ongoing physical hurdle marks another frustrating chapter in a season heavily disrupted by injuries for the young contender. Team management has not yet announced a definitive target date for when their primary rider will be cleared by medical staff to make his competitive comeback.
