Lewis Hamilton has revealed that this year's summer break has been the most different of his entire Formula 1 career. The British driver admitted he used the time off to boost his fitness rather than simply relax.
After taking his first win for Ferrari at the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix in June, Hamilton's performance has continued to rise. The rapid development of the SF-26, combined with his personal input, has made the Italian team a consistent front-runner.
Speaking ahead of this weekend's Dutch Grand Prix, Hamilton explained his changed approach. "This has been the most different summer break that I've ever had in all my championship seasons," he told Motorsport Week. "Normally, you go away and take a week off or two weeks off – there's a bit of partying and all that sort of stuff."

Instead, he opted for a grueling three-week training program. "I really took this as an opportunity to re-level up. I trained for three weeks. I've come back the fittest I've ever come back in summer," he said. "I've been able to look at where we have been. My schedule moving forward is taking out things that don't ultimately get me to where I want to be."
Despite the difference, Hamilton feels energized. "I come in really feeling definitely refreshed. It's a different sort of thing, rather than relaxed. I'm energised. It's a good feeling – feeling fit," he added.
His personal Instagram posts showed downtime moments spent with partner Kim Kardashian before jetting back to action for the final race at Zandvoort this season. With renewed spirit and peak physical condition, Hamilton looks ready to fight hard in the remaining races of 2026.
